FB Pixels still gathering data when no ad is running

I created a FB Pixel to track clicks and website actions on a FB Ad we ran a few weeks ago. The ad is long over, but the Pixel is adding clicks on a daily basis, and they are linking to very different pages of the website.
I’m assuming this means that the Pixel tracks every action on any Facebook post, even if that post is not an ad.
If this is the case, I’m not sure I understand how to use a Pixel to track actions for a specific ad.

The pixel doesn’t track what happens on Facebook, Facebook can already do that.
The pixel tracks what happens on your website. You installed code on your website (the pixel) that sends data from your website to Facebook.
It’s showing activity because there are people browsing your website. It doesn’t matter if those people came from a Facebook ad, or a newspaper article.
