Facebook blocked me from posting thinking I’m an Australian publisher
Posted by seohelper on February 24, 2021 at 5:19 pmAs the title says, I’m blocked from posting on a page I manage thanks to Facebook’s blocking of Australian news. The problem is that I’m based in Europe and none of my ads are even directed at AU. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone successfully appealed? I’m pretty much at my wits end here.

GuestFebruary 24, 2021 at 5:35 pmUgh, that´s a rough one. Is your page verified? I mean the webpage? I don´t know any quick fixes unfortunately. Good luck!

GuestFebruary 24, 2021 at 8:20 pmWhile our page isnt exactly news related I’m based in Australia and was recently hit with this. No luck getting in contact just yet but I seen headlined saying facebook will lift the ban in the coming days. Fingers crossed.

GuestFebruary 25, 2021 at 12:17 amUs too, but all you have to do (worked for me, at least) is remove the link from your post and you should be good. It sucks to not have a link for your call to action but you can still use it when you boost your post (and I imagine you boost your posts on Facebook because the platform is pretty much pay to play).

GuestFebruary 25, 2021 at 1:36 amFacebook will have the blocking changes all reversed in the next couple of days. Their AI net swept pretty wide in working out who to stop.

GuestFebruary 25, 2021 at 4:11 amDoes this mean all businesses in AU can no longer run FB / IG ads? That’s insane.

GuestFebruary 28, 2021 at 6:34 pmWe think this happened to us too. Found your thread trying to look to see if it’s happening to anyone else. A dramatic decrease in organic reach that correlates almost exactly with the Australian news. We’re US-based and most of our page audience is US-based, but Australian users make up about 3% of our user base.
