  • Facebook ads – only serving on Facebook, not Instagram, Audience Network etc.

Hey – having a slight conundrum with the past few campaigns I’ve ran, in that almost all my impressions seem to be served on Facebook, with almost nothing on Instagram or elsewhere.

With the campaigns all being based around contemporary music, I’d quite like the ads to be served across the Instagram network at the very least – I thought it may have been a one-off anomaly but seems to have been doing so since Jan/Feb time.

I’m splitting my ad sets out into keyword targeting, page engagers, pixel remarketing and then lookalike audiences, the latter of which takes the absolute lion’s share of the impressions/clicks in every instance, but is also massively boosting my overall results…

Any advice would be greatly appreciated from someone who may have experienced something similar!

I took out ads on Facebook and Instagram and the returns were awful and, as you said, most of the impressions were on on FB. I did this via the business suite app.

I tried promoting directly on Instagram instead and the results were excellent. I recommend creating some posts on Instagram with the intention of boosting them. Forget the business suite app or creating them on Fb and go directly with Insta.

So you’re using 4 ad sets within one campaign and choosing both Facebook + Instagram for placements for each ad set?

If you want control over what % of budget is used for each placement you’ll need to separate the ad groups. So for example if you have $100 for each of your 4 current ad groups, you should create 8 ad groups (4 for Facebook, 4 for Instagram) and allocate $50 to each. You can obviously play with the % of budget allocation from there (ie. if you want 70% of budget to go towards Facebook then put $70 in each of the 4 Facebook ad groups and $30 in each of the 4 Instagram ad groups).
