Facebook Ads: how many active ads to run?

Posted by seohelper on June 30, 2020 at 1:44 pm

Although it’s very much dependent on the amount of budget, I’ve been told that it’s best practice to have 4-5 max active ads in each ad set. I’m just having a hard time seeing why this is the case when running an auction based campaign that is optimizing towards the most efficient costs — would it not be better to have as many ads as possible so the system has more options to optimize towards? Wondering if anyone can provide me some insight!

Depends on what I’m trying to test. If I’m working on finding new audiences, I only run 1 ad per ad set to ensure the fixed variable.

If I’m testing creative, one audience and multiple ads.

You’re right that you should have 4-5 ads max per campaign.

I have a YouTube channel about Facebook Ads and I have a video where I actually answer this question in-depth: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL-v7DmvG1k](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL-v7DmvG1k)

    Essentially this video tells you:

    * Have a max of 5 ads in a single ad set
    * But, if your budgets are small, just start off with 2 or 3. In this case, 5 ads are a bit too much for the algorithm.
