Facebook AD failing with “Non-functional landing page error” even when its just directed to messages

Hi everyone! I am new on Reddit and this super confusing ad mess landed me here. Would appreciate your help.

I am trying to start some conversion ads for a client who wants to sell an online book.

Try #1 – My first bet was directing to kindle – that failed – It said “Non-functional landing page error”

I thought maybe because it is on Amazon – Facebook won’t allow it

Try #2 I tried to direct them to messenger – it worked, but my client finds WhatsApp more convenient so I created a copy with WhatsApp instead. And the same ad which was working – NOW failed. “Non-functional landing page error”

Try #3 My client uploaded the book on their website – So I could direct traffic there now? No this failed again. “Non-functional landing page error”. I thought maybe it’s because they haven’t sent up Facebook Pixel on their website.

Try #4 Next plan – I decided to go the safe message route instead now. I tried to do it for FB messenger only since it had worked the last time – and then in messages – I added the website link in an automated reply. This ad FAILED again. “Non-functional landing page error” again.

Try #5 I removed the website link altogether. Now it was just directed to the FB messenger. Again, FAILED with 0 violations. I asked for a manual review and they still rejected it.

Now in the REVIEW AD tab, I tried to find the URL link the ad is taking people to. To my surprise [https://fb.com/messenger_doc/](https://fb.com/messenger_doc/) <- this link is broken. But it is an automatic link put in by Facebook itself!!!!!!

This is crazy – does anyone one has any idea what is going wrong? I’m scared of trying again lest my account will get banned.

If you’re linking to an Amazon product page, the URL just needs to be https://www.amazon.com/dp/%5BASIN%5D

ASINs are Amazon’s in-house product identifiers, similar to a barcode or a SKU.

The ASIN for the Kindle version of George Orwell’s 1984 is: B0945VQXP7. You can see this listed on the product page.

So the URL in a Facebook ad for that book would be [https://www.amazon.com/dp/](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0945VQXP7)[B0945VQXP7](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0945VQXP7)

I’ve been running FB ad campaigns for a Kindle book for a couple weeks now using this method, with no landing page errors.

I’m in the same position at this moment. However, I’m trying to run an LG Ad with a Call now button. I have been at it for four days trying and testing different routes, and it’s been consuming me.

When you mention that you found the UR link to where it’s taking people to, to my surprise, it’s taking them to a link that is generated by FB and impossible to modify, unless it’s in a hidden area I haven’t found inside the business manager.

Any luck, with knowing where & how you can modify that link?
