  • Duplicate URLs on Google Search Console

I noticed a weird trend recently on my GSC, several of my pages appear twice on the results (one version with trailing slash and one without). It doesn’t seem to impact traffic for now, but I was wondering whether it is possible to run into duplicate content issues and, if so, would it be a good idea to consolidate them into one version?

Does anybody else have a similar experience?

If you use WordPress the reason may be permalink settings. Seems like your CMS “create” two options.

The best way to fix issue is using 301 redirect (it is Google’s recommendation). Also you can use a canonical tag to help Google to understand which page you prefer to see in Google’s index. But? as I wrote, 301 redirect is the best option.

There are a lot of tools to find duplicate content. One of the best known duplicate content checkers is probably CopyScape.com. This tool works pretty easily: insert a link in the box on the homepage, and CopyScape will return a number of results, presented a bit like Google’s search result pages
