  • Does it Help or Hurt SEO if You Change the Name of Blog Post?

Posted by seohelper on February 24, 2021 at 11:35 pm

When I first started, I had no idea what I was doing (I still don’t have a clue, but I’m getting better), so I wrote a bunch of blog posts that need improvement and they still aren’t ranking. Some of the titles/URLs are super long and I am guessing (tell me if I am wrong?) that shorter titles are better.

As an example…. If I posted an article called 100 of the best blenders to make yummy shakes (not a real title), can I change it to ‘best blenders”? Will that help SEO? Or hurt it?

    Can I even do that??

    Nope, don’t do that.

    I would rather say:

    “10 best selling blenders compared”

    or

“10 best selling blenders under $20”

don’t change just to “Best blenders” it will hurt your SEO for sure.

BTW if you plan to change URL structure as well, then make sure you will do proper 301 redirects.

The meta title and h1 are very important for on page SEO. You can drop in rankings if you remove a keyword in the meta title. Also, you can improve in rankings by better optimizing it.

    So do something like this:

    Meta title:
100 best blenders (reviews for 2021)

    H1:
Best blenders (reviews and buying guide)

I changed some blog post URL’s titles a few months ago that still haven’t recovered. I would NOT do it.

If the posts getting no traffic, why not?

If it’s getting traffic, I’d leave it alone.

You’re talking about the H1 right? Or the Title in SEO setup? Either way yea you can change it. Your site may bounce around a bit should come back stronger for you keywords.
