Does higher hourly pay mean better marketing expert?

Posted by seohelper on April 7, 2021 at 11:27 am

I have been skimming through places like upwork for a google ads expert to help us set up our ads. I would do it myself, but I have very little experience with them, so they would probably just burn cash.

I see a wide range of people, nearly all of the with over 100 hours of recorded work, all with over 90% job success, and they all have pretty good reviews. And yet some of them are charging $60 an hour, and others are charging up to $500 an hour.

Of course I would rather spend less per hour as long as they still make great ads, but is there a correlation between how much they charge and how good they are at marketing?

Should I not care about how much they charge and just look at how many jobs they’ve done, how much time they acquired, and their reviews?

I would look at the person’s reviews as that will give you an idea of how good they are. However, before you hire someone ask them if they’re specialized in creating digital strategies & are experienced in writing copy that pertains to your brand’s voice & value. See if the person can send you samples of two or three clients they’ve worked with in the past.

If you’re still unsure, send me a PM I’d be more than happy to help.

I think it doesn’t per se correlate to good work. Some people might have enough clients already so they only accept new clients at X rate, but it doesn’t mean they are better though.

and tbh I think if people charge $500 an hour, most likely they’ll have someone else set everything up for 1/5th of the rate.

I do think the lowest rates are probably from the most inexperienced people who just started out with freelancing. They might not be the best / most experienced but I do think those people probably have a higher need to prove themselves and put in the work.

But yeah look at ho many jobs they have done and their reviews. The hourly rate should fit within you budget and the returns you would want to see from Google Ads.
