  • Does A “.ca” Domain Negatively Affect SEO Rankings for the States?

I’m Canadian and I’ve got a website that has a .ca domain, and I’m wondering if this will hinder me from selling to US customers? It’s a huge bummer that I’m finding out now that it might have a bad impact. If it does, is there any extra things I can do to start ranking on google for American customers? (I can’t market my product through ads)

Google says that no tlds are treated differently in the serps. But I can tell you as an American I would not click on a site with .ca extension, and I think other savvy internet users wouldn’t as well. This negatively effects your click through rates thus impacting your seo.

Yes 100%! If you want to rank for the US, you will need a .com or do some fancy work with hreflang for multi-lingual/country support
