An example, I have a professional profile on an industry aggregator that his high (DS 92, DT 14.4m). The link on my profile, however, is redirected. Does this help my personal page, or does the redirect nuke any benefit?

It depends on how the redirect is coded and how many hops it takes to the destination.

IE I use a social platform for posting links and it uses a url shortener, however when I view my posts the URL is different than the shortener – so in reality it’s shortened and then shortened again – resulting in 2 redirects.

The user doesn’t see the 2 redirects, but bots do. But that’s ok I’m not posting expecting the links back. I truly want to share the content.

So the first thing I’d suggest is to do a server header check on the URL that does the redirection. Where does it go to (IE does it actually redirect to your page, or somewhere else) and what is the response code. These 2 things can help determine if there’s value.

Google says simple redirects do transfer MOST pagerank (IE if you’ve 301’d an old page to a new one), but as the redirect chain grows, PR is lost.
