  • Do Instagram “shout out” accounts actually benefit a user?

I was approached by a fitness account with around 100,000k followers. They asked for one of my vids to post. But then all of a sudden it was $25 to post + sharing in their timeline while of course tagging me. It was $75 for “unlimited.” Do these accounts actually benefit a user to gain more attention to their own account?

I looked at the engagement on their page and it was… eh, alright.

Generally depends on how the engaged audience is but even if, it’s a low crossover rate unless

    – your content is good
    – you’re in a similar niche to whoever is shouting you out and can interest the audience in your own right, and so are just using somebody with a bigger and engaged following to cut through all the noise and BS on IG that results in your account not being noticed… _yet_.

Otherwise you just get some drones mindlessly following without paying attention to what you post, and it’s not like those followers will engage with you in the future anyway. If they have 100K Followers I’d say don’t bother, you’ll get a couple dozen new Followers at best and they might not even be engaged.

In most cases it benefits the user, yes.

The user being the one getting the money.

Influencer marketing is a real thing. The problem is that there’s so much BS fake influencers out there.
