  • Do I need to put a location for Google My Business to show up in searches?

Posted by seohelper on June 2, 2020 at 3:36 am

I created a Google My Business page that shows up when searched directly for my business name. However, when searching for the general service, I do not show up at all. Is this because I did not put a location for my business? I put a general area that I service instead.

My competitors use a fake location. How do you verify get a fake location if Google sends a postcard to verify that address?

Adding Location in your Google my business helps to rank top for local queries. But even location not added you can rank for your business name. If you are not ranking for your business name there may be issues with your Google indexing.
If you want to add fake location then you need to able to take post card in fake location then you should add pincode in Google my business.

Are you talking about organic search or maps?

For organic search, your GMB should show up if you add a unique brand name that isn’t also the name of a product or service (Blake’s Locksmith) should show up on the right side while (Lock & Key Store) probably won’t, regardless of whether you added a service area or a physical location.

For maps, Service Area Businesses (SABs) don’t show up on the Google Map, but they still appear on the results and even the Map Pack depending on how well-optimized they are.

My issue is that I’m not showing up when searched for my category at all. Not even at the end of the second page. I only show up when my full business name is being searched for.
