I’m screenshoting this and adding to my agency’s onboarding process. Thank you 😂

Na for real, those calls are for boomers business owners, not media buyers.

Yes. The are scum of the earth. With make crazy campaigns. Not respond to you or actually drive traffic have no idea about the niche. I’ve tested this so many times. The last time she set up a garbage place and drained money. No follow up or response to emails. Typical Silicon Valley overpaid inexperienced human

I can help or anyone else for the love of god stay away from them or watch them like a hawk!

Here’s what our AM told me: we were looking at a minor change that we agreed to make and she said: could you do it please? I’m not allowed to and it gets escalated even if we make a change by mistake. This was an in person meeting.

You can always check your change history if you have doubts

Check change history, and look over all other settings. I’ve had it happen in the past where we ignored a rep who was pushing for a change to tCPA bid strategy (away from manual) – 2 days later the CPC doubled. I check change history, nothing shown. BUT the bid strategy was…. tCPA.

It definitely happens. If you don’t see anything that’s actually changed then no, it’s just a coincidence. They don’t have the power to mess with things on the backend, especially if you’re not a huge account and huge spender.

They are sales reps not account reps….that’s the difference.

They can’t directly mess with your account, but Google has these sneaky auto-apply settings that can tank your performance overnight, and most people never find them.

Google buries this deep because they don’t want you turning it off. They can automatically create sitelinks, callouts, even change your ad copy without you knowing.

I actually made a video walking through all these hidden settings because I got tired of seeing the same accounts get destroyed by Google’s “helpful” automation:

This feeling is super common. Google’s goals are not always yours and it is frustrating when you feel pressured. You need your own data insights separate from what Google tells you to make smart choices and push back when something does not feel right.

Google reps don’t have access to manipulate your account performance directly, but the timing correlation you’re experiencing isn’t uncommon.

When reps can’t get you on calls, they sometimes escalate accounts for “review” which can trigger algorithm changes or policy scrutiny that affects performance.

More likely, your avoidance of optimization suggestions means Google’s automated systems are making changes without your input… things like bid strategy shifts or placement expansions that weren’t explicitly approved. For my clients dealing with persistent rep contact, I handle all communication to prevent these indirect performance impacts.

The CPA doubling after avoiding Google contact suggests your account may have lost some preferential treatment or algorithmic stability.
