Do Google reps intentionally fcuk up your ad accounts?

Posted by human_marketer on September 18, 2025 at 5:30 pm

Since last 2 weeks I have been actively avoiding 2 google reps trying to get on call with regarding "strategy" around the ad account I have been operating since 3 years. Now 2 days ago all of a sudden the CPA starts doubling. I want to believe that it's a coincidence.

Have any of you experienced it as well?

did you accept some auto changes?

most likely that rep does not work for Google directly and is contracted to call you. goal for them is to increase your spend.

I doubt they did anything behind the scenes to mess with your account

I doubt they did something to your account but I have had experience like this as well. Sometimes account performance tanks pretty close to when a new rep is assigned. Google is shady, so it’s not impossible that they don’t do this.

However, if the account’s structure is solid the performance picks up back again regardless of the strategy call or not. Wait it out. Give it a week.

They are not allowed to change anything on you account before you sign a contract allowing this.

That is likely a coincidence as very rarely do they make changes on your account without your permission. They don’t intentionally mess with your accounts, but they do give you crappy strategies to push their internal KPIs.

They cant do that lol. Also you can check change history to see. I doubt any of the google ad managers can code to fuck your shit up in the back

I decided the other day to accept a call from a rep and listen in as they just pushed do this, do that, auto-apply, lets change ads, etc, but in the end you just have to say NO. I’ll listen to what you have to say but investigate myself. The hilarious part was she asked me “have you ever spoken to a google rep? I casually respond yes but their always leaving the accounts”, then at the end of the call she says “this is my last week on the account so if you could get the changes we discussed implemented by tomorrow… blah blah blah”. Just idiotic. They sure are persistent with emails.

Normally they won’t touch your account unless you’ve given them written permissions to do so.

I would check the change log to see if anything has been processed automatically.

It might just be a coincidence.

Easiest way to avoid it is to take the call and move on.

They probably convinced your competitor to turn their bids up. Which they planned to get you to turn your bids up too so that your bank accounts get completely emptied out as the bidding war goes on.

That’s why there has to be transparency in the market: So that you know as a fact that you’re not getting totally robbed by some completely evil trick…

It’s a scam tech company and what they are doing is totally evil.

Yes. Apparently, I have the unique distinction of escalating things so aggressively that I actually received an account credit of 6k. I was new to PPC and clearly, naive. Drove my conversion cost (which were easily tracked, I only counted form submissions as conversions) from $18-20 to over $100, begged to let me get through the learning phase.

Yes all they want is the money they don’t care about how the account actually performs. It is all shady third party companies hiding under the Google name, no accountability. I got cussed out by a Google Ads rep. because I told him to stop with the daily harassing phone calls.
