Difficult Time with Paid Ad Attribution in Shopify
Hi all,
My goal is to set up attribution to see which specific ad campaigns our Shopify purchasers came from. My website is kindara.com The workflow is Google/FB Ad->Kindara.com Order Page->Checkout on kindara.myshopify.com subdomain. You can see the real life process here [https://www.kindara.com/products/priya-sensor/order-priya](https://www.kindara.com/products/priya-sensor/order-priya)
The issue appears to be that every time a visitor makes it to the kindara.myshopfiy.com subdomain, a brand new session is started, and all the visitor’s Kindara.com history stops. This is of course absolutely horrible and useless for Paid Ad attribution, because all of my Shopify purchasers are shown as originating from “Kindara.com”, when *really* I need this all to be counted as a single session, and see uninterrupted what Ad led the visitor to the purchase.
1. The solution seems to be cross-domain tracking. However, this only seems to be supported in Shopify on the Shopify plus plan. I have tried every informal loophole method I have read about to achieve this, but I have thus far been unable to get it to properly work.
2. If there is no way to set up cross-domain tracking without Shopify plus, I am wondering if I change the checkout domain from the subdomain to my primary (kindara.myshopify.com/checkout -> kindara.com/checkout) will this keep the entire purchasing journey on my single kindara.com domain, and just count as 1 session? And if that is the route to proceed, will changing the store from a subdomain to the primary name screw up any of my existing analytics of anything like that?
Please help. Thanks.
