CPA on campaign level and Ad Group level (Google Ads)

Posted by seohelper on July 1, 2021 at 2:37 pm

Hi everyone! (English is not my first language so I hope you guys understand my question)

I’m running a Search campaign focused on conversions and a Target CPA of $400.

I have 3 campaigns that got 1 conversion each, the total spent is around $1.6k (caused by CPC), therefore, the CPA is $1.6k too (on campaign level). But when I check the ad groups that got the conversions in those campaigns, the CPA is around $100, which is pretty good!

So my question is… What is the real CPA for those conversions? $1.6k on campaign level or $100 on ad group level?

I hope my question is clear enough and thank you!

I think we need some more details as far as the setup goes… Like how many ad groups are in each campaign? Each ad group likely has it’s own keywords and targeting.

I’m going to go ahead and guess that you’ve got multiple ad groups in each campaign and only the ones which have converted are doing so at around $100. So you can look at it a couple ways…

    1) CPA among the 3 campaigns is $1,600 OR

    2) CPA for a particular ad group is $100

Likely what you want to do is spend some more money on the keywords/ad groups which have actually converted to see if performance holds.
