    Hi,

I would like to create content just for fun, as a hobby. Just want to create content and see where it goes from there. I'm just a one man operation so I'll be doing everything myself. I was looking to take a short course on content creation but I can't find any near me. All I have is a ring light, a dslr camera, iPhone. I don't have a microphone. Can someone give me advice on editing softwares or any online courses/books where I can learn content creation. Also where should I be posting YT, TikTok, Insta? I don't want to go into this blindly, I'd like to read or learn stuff about content creation before starting. The topic of the content will be food.

    Thank you all.

You don’t need a ton of gear to start. Your iPhone + ring light is already enough for food content. For editing, CapCut is easy to learn. Once you’re comfortable, you can move up to DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro.

I think what you need is to start making your first mistakes. Try stuff, run into roadblocks and then go to Youtube or Reddit for help.

Figure out what your content is though. Think about this: What do you want people to say about your content when they recommend your channels (that’s the guy/gal that makes soap operas with food / that’s the channel with the healthy alternative recipes / that’s the one that makes food sculptures). If you know what distinguishes you from the crowd, then you just need to make stuff, you will figure it out in the process.

Oh, but try getting a small mic at least. People overlook the importance of sound.

I highgly reccomend to do YT, and from your YT videos make shorts through tiktok shorts and reels. Its the best moment to begin in YT now.
YT its based in content quality and in the actual content of the video. So small youtubers may be featured more than before.

You might want to check out Adobe Express for editing your content! I work at Adobe and, as someone with little editing experience, I use Express all the time for video editing. You also can connect your social media accounts to easily post across platforms.

Search your competitors first. Understanding which kind of contents are giving the best results is the most important part of content creation. Then. you have to remake it in your voice and style

It depends on your goals. For example, if you want to create whatever type of content just for fun, you should come up with the platform first. If you choose YouTube, then you’ll need a good camera (phone with a good camera), and the additional stuff for content creation (depends on your topic direction). For instance, if you want to create music covers, you’ll need an instument (guitar, bass, dumms, etc.) and Adobe Audition.

However, if your choice is blogging and you have your own blog, you’ll need to create an interactive content that would be engaging and drive solid traffic to your site. First, generate topic ideas (you can use Ahrefs to figure them out), prepare an outline and go to creating visuals.

For this, I’ll recomment using a content design tool like Visme. It is easy-in-use and offers a wide range of content design services to pick from.

Finally, publish your piece of conent and share it across your social channels.

Plus, you can make a content repurposing. In other words, take your blog post and repupose it into the other forms of conent – video, infographic, social media posts, etc.

I just recorded and posted my first short for a new platform. I shot it outside as I was walking, and immediately posted it. No edits, just me talking about things.

For me it was the easiest way to get started. Will I do more edits on future videos and add production value…? Probably not.

Today people are looking more for authenticity than fancy. (Depending of course on what your channel is about 😉)
