Coming back to SEO after years, where to begin?
Posted by on February 5, 2026 at 10:14 amHello everyone, I used to work in an SEO department of a marketing agency a few years ago. Now I work in a small company who doesn't have a dedicated SEO team, and I'd like to improve our rankings on a few keywords on my own, with not too many hours put in as I have other responsibilities. My questions for this sub are:
What is the current "meta"? (If there is any)
What should I focus on if I want to improve ranking for certain keywords? (competition in the Balkans is not too strong)
What should I totally avoid in order to not waste time?

the meta is AI and proper SEO. each region is different, each niche is different. SEO can be done with AI easily. it’s all about agents, cross analysis and leveraging data and finding patterns. links of course as always play a big role, but also content, content length and content quality.
so not a lot has changed but all the ways you do SEO have massively changed. with leveraging AI, MCP, Ahrefs data you can be a one man army.
