  • Client’s page performance is so bad and I don’t know what to do

    Edit— this is on IG!!!

I’ve been working on a client’s account since end of November. Small fitness startup. I’ve gotten them about 3k new followers organically but engagement is horrible. Like, a post from today got 13 likes and we have over 4K followers. I’m so embarrassed and don’t want to let my client down. I’m using relevant hashtags, I’m engaging with other accounts …. what is going on ? UGH.

Make sure that your followers are actually active people. I don’t remember the actual percentage, but instagram only shows your posts to I think maybe 10% of your followers. If a lot of them are inactive, then it’s basically wasting your time and money.

Instagram is also not being shy with shadowbanning people.

Is it Facebook? Facebook’s engagement is dead. Focus on other KPIs, not likes. Likes are not an accurate way to measure results.

I think your audience is not relevant to your niche post most engaging Content like polls, survey’s etc

If you’re spamming major hashtags (#nature, #catsofinstagram) there’s a good chance most of your traffic is just bots that follow accounts to look legitimate.

I never post anything on Facebook without money to back it up when it comes to business pages.

13 likes on a post? It’s doing more harm than good for the business.

When I put money on posts, it’s because I know they reach at least 10k likes.

If you’re taking on clients for social media management i’m sure you know what you’re doing. Instagram is a beast in itself, it’s very hard to build a community unless you’re a celeb, brand, influencer, actor, athlete, content creator etc. OR you have an account that covers those niches (Pop culture rules right). If you are indeed sticking to a consistent posting schedule, engaging with your target audience and using relevant hashtags, i’d reconsider your content. I obviously don’t know what you post but maybe switching it up will help drive better results. See what your competitors are doing, big and small. Make your posts informational.. educate people and teach them things because that is shareable content. Release a series of 10-minute at-home workouts for each muscle group, suggest easy meal prep recipes, inspiration quotes etc. If you’re not doing all that, maybe it’s worth speaking to your client about it.

I’ve learnt that if you’re following the best practices to grow organically, then then next logical step is to reconsider your content approach. Oh, and don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s a startup and building a social media presence in a pretty common niche is HARD. Just focus on being better and doing something different. Results will come.
