  • Client wants to be targeted (FB & IG Ads Question)

Problem: Client wants to be targeted by our ads on Facebook and Instagram, but she is never reached.

Of course I get that the client might not be the target audience for the ad, but for this particular one, she kinda is as she is being targeted by our competitors. Fyi, we skew towards location-based audience targeting as this is a brick-and-mortar store.

I was wondering if it is because she’s an admin on our Facebook page? Because looking back, I don’t recall being targeted by ads from a page I handle. I just can’t find a source for this.

I understand it’s pretty counterproductive to target a person working for the company but in the interest of making the client happy, I’m trying to figure this out.

I’ve thought of uploading a customer list on Facebook with just her email address so solve this but I don’t know if that’s the best course of action.

I’ve been encountering this “problem” ever since I started doing social media years ago and I haven’t found any answer till now so I’m taking my chance asking here.

Hope to hear everyone’s thoughts. Thanks!

Even a tiny demographic won’t let you hit everyone in it.
And the smaller it is, the less likely they will hit the “ideal” target.

Her being associated with the page is definitely something that could rule her out in the algorithm. I personally have never been hit with a dark post for anything I am an admin, or editor of.

Isn’t there a minimum size on this of a couple of hundred emails? Specifically, so you can’t target individual people?

Can you add people who like your page as a target?

Use retargeting audiences (custom audiences) or just make a campaign with 5km radius around her office lol

Make your client engage with the posts regularly on both platforms

Ads won’t show to people that are admins of the company page. The solution would be to remove her as admin, then test again… or use a different page to set up ads to test to target her.

I think the easiest way would be to target one of her family members and then hopefully that family member lets her know if they saw the ad.

its probably because shes an admin on the facebook page. Its a waste of time.

If she wants to see the ads natively its a waste of money. Trust in the algorithm is what’s needed and clients need to understand that. The main reasoning behind what she might be asking for is to see the ads. You can do that in ad manager. Alternatively is you want to reverse engineer facebook’s algorithm from people you can try with dummy accounts or checking your facebook or google criteria if available

Naturally the actual scoring is a black box
