  • Can’t link account

I have a very simple situation:

I am an employee of a small company

I want to be able to manage their social media, FB and IG

I have created a FB account that is all public that I will use for the management (rather than my personal accounts)

My manager said they sent an invite, but I haven’t received anything

I also can’t log into Meta Business Suite with the new FB account I created

What is the best way to do this? It seems so straightforward, but it’s not working, and I’m going crazy reading the same instructions over and over when they don’t work.

I don’t want to use my personal accounts.

    Thank you!

Um, FB accounts are meant to be real person accounts – that won’t cause your initial issue, but might result in your new account being nuked if/when FB finds out.

Presumably you already have a personal FB account – make it public for the time you need to get signed up to the work pages and get your boss to invite you then.

This might also make it easier to sort out the meta business accounts.

Edit: wrt not wanting to use your personal accounts – why not? I don’t love the set-up, but I suck it up and do it and it’s okay

Just echoing u/pdarigan (and offering my $0.02 and horror stories) – the best way to do this is using your personal account. It’s got credibility with Meta’s algorithm. A new account, that has no (or limited) friends, no posts and then is sent an invite to be a page admin looks highly suspicious (and could very easily be a proxy for a hacked account. This may be why the invitation isn’t coming through. Also – check your spam and trash folders.

Two small bits to further encourage this:

    * I too ran with multiple accounts for a time. The primary reason was I didn’t want my client’s accounts on my phone in case I lost my phone (this was before biometric ID on phones and better encryption, etc.). Once – and I mean – ONCE – I clicked on a link from a FB email with the usual “so and so uploaded a new picture” prompt while logged in on the other account and FB realized it immediately and locked me out of the account I was using for work. Which meant no ads, no posts, no nothing. Took 30 days to resolve and the hoops I had to jump through were CrAzY!!

    * Along the same lines – if you company ever wants to run ads, esp of a “political” nature (which includes things like climate change) or do similar other “risky” things you’ll be asked to verify your account and prove it with a DL scan, 2FA setup, etc. And if both your accounts have the same phone number, that’ll trigger a problem (like the above).

One of my clients setup an account using the founder’s name at one point. He’s been 6 feet under for a few decades now. We started getting prompted when ‘he’ would login for DL scans, etc. We could dodge it for a time and reassigned assets, etc. but it still comes up if we need to login to the account for something. Real accounts are always better. No one on your personal side will see that you’re an admin (unless you set it that way) and vice versa.
