  • Can Google Blocks Sites From Displaying Based On Who Is Database

I have a client who’s website does not rank most likely because he did some bad things in the past. We rebuilt the website on a new domain, new content everything and that site doesn’t rank at all either.

We built a 1 page website then with a different domain that wasn’t registered to him and that website is ranking for the search terms the other two are trying to rank for.

Could Google be blocking these websites on purpose as they know that this client owns them? I have check Google Search Console and there are no manual penalties so we are at a bit of a loss here.

Yes, absolutely. In the past, a few notorious spammers managed to achieve that status with Google.

There was no way to find out. Unless Matt Cutts mentioned you by name.

But I would not jump to conclusions here. The sample is really small. You could transfer the website to works to them, change nothing else, and see what happens.

They definitely could if what the person was doing was bad enough that they would want to keep tabs on them. That’s one easy way to identify them.

They used to smack IPs in the past but you had to be spamming millions…

” he did some bad things in the past …”

    What does that mean?

Did you e.g. check the Google safe browsing status of the tranparency report for corresonding domains/URLs or did you check some IP blacklists?

Did you also change the webhoster / IP range? Do you use a dedicated server or shared hosting ? (“bad neighbourhood”)
