Can AI content just be banned?

Posted by ben_bgtDigital on October 8, 2025 at 7:58 am

So many posts in this sub, and then replies to those posts are generated by AI. Its all low quality trash. Em dashes everywhere. Any chance the mods can just put a blanket ban on this? It's worse than on LinkedIn. Just bots talking to each other with fluff.

This isn't limited to just this sub but I believe people come here to get answers to their (real) questions and to catch up on industry news. Not watch two ChatGPT extensions wank each other off.

I agree. A lot of profiles also use it here to grow their karma and mascarade as experts.

You mean you don’t want to understand why you are missing out on 20X ROAS with advantage+ after andromeda update?

You dont want to understand why your performance max is failing because you never setup properly so your negative keyword?

please ban it. please also ban any click fraud tools. 90% of the ai talk is by some marketing geniuses who figure they’ll post their product to this sub under the guise of being a ppc manager. It’s amazing how bad they are at it.

We could have a monthly pinned tool thread that these discussions could go into because I do think 1 times out of 10 there is a real person who wants to know a good feed management tool or something similar.

I agree completely, this is with all the ppc and seo subs. I can’t believe the mods of all of these different subs allow it. Just say what you have to say in your own words. It doesn’t have to be perfect, this is Reddit! But I think people are also doing it because they know LLMs are pulling from Reddit a lot and hoping to get their posts used to reference their garbage vibecoded apps or company or whatever.

It’s the same in the Shopify sub, so many people posting “research questions” or made up problems that easily searchable just so they can DM anyone who’s unfortunate enough to respond.

LOL. It’s frustrating for sure. It would be great to have blanket auto-AI bans but that would likely mean false positives get banned too, unfortunately.

I’d love to see it banned, but how do you police it? Right NOW AI content (unedited, low-effort AI content) is somewhat easy to see.

If you ban posts using em and en-dashes you’ll just get AI posts with ellipses, semicolons (which are my sentence break of choice so… please god no), or hella brackets. It becomes even harder to spot rather than to downvote and move on.

As mods we don’t have a tool that can detect and ban AI posts or responses. We do our best to remove anything promotional or clearly AI but sometimes there’s a grey area where content is borderline or just really very useful for the community.

We’re people and our decisions are often subjective… we’ll continue to do the best we can.

How can you help? Make sure you send us notices whenever you see content that should be removed. It’s much faster for us to go through the mod queue vs. having to read through every post.

The problem is that ai and human content is merging. Obvious stuff is the easy to spot but it’s hard to spot the clever ai spam. I don’t know the answer but a blanket ban will just reward the AI launderers.

Can you plug-in an AI sentiment monitor that shows for each post? Percentage of AI slop?

Kinda like how ahrefs.com does it for assessing webpages?

    Dead internet theory, anyone?

I agree with your sentiment — seeing bots talking to bots is tiresome. I legit find the LinkedIn comment section unreadable these days.

Still hate how the em dash is looked at as instant ChatGPT dribble though… I’ve been using those bad boys since pre-AI. 😢

I’d be curious how you’d even expect for us the regulate or monitor stuff. Plenty of people use AI to help clean up their writing which seems like a perfectly acceptable use of AI to me.

I don’t hate the idea of removing those shit type of posts, but you’re venturing into the territory of us mods doing more curating which I suspect may also piss people off when something they post gets removed.

Amen. Has dropped the quality of this sub a lot.
