  • Calling out social media managers and marketers.

Hey guys, so I need your inputs about the idea I am working on. I feel every social media manager or marketer may have come across this thing one way or another.

So, I am Constantly baffled looking at so many Social Media tools all having different pros and cons, even differences in pricing plans.

    **Problem**

    1. There are tons of different tools out there each offering their own pros and cons. Each with different pricing strategies.
    2. The thing with the social media market is that it is very dynamic the requirements constantly change according to the current demands.
    3. However, searching for “the best SMM tool” won’t deliver results that factor in your unique needs.

    * **A freelancer** may need a different tool like buffer or later to manage their social media.
    * **An agency** may need a different tool for the their use like agora pulse or social pilot
    * **A small startup** or business may also need integration of team collaboration which is only available in some tools like sprout social

    1. All in even if the user opts for one tool or another. The user’s requirement may still change and then he may start looking for another tool.
    2. Users sometimes even have to use another tool in addition to their existing tool for functionalities they do not have in their main tool. As a result they have over invested in a plethora of smm tools for different features.

    * For example not all tools integrate a blog content calendar. So users now use 2 tools for social media.

    1. On top of it all the pricing plans are different with each different tool. Making it even more inefficient in terms of budget spent.

    **Solution and How**

    * What if there was a platform that can be customized according to your use case.
    * Users can just give in their requirements and use cases. The platform will automatically design a dashboard according to the given inputs. Which user can further tweak for best fit.
    * Whenever a new feature and functionality is needed. Users can simply go to the feature store. Just toggle on/off the new feature they need. And also disable the feature they don’t need. There are tons of features available on the store, more useful than any other tool
    * On top of it all. Now the pricing of the user will be very simple. There is no complexity involved. Simple pricing where users don’t have to think twice.

Let me know your thoughts everyone.

Your submission looks to be asking about industry tools. If so, you are not the only one asking this question, try the search, the sidebar (lots of resources there), and [check out the resource collection on our community site](https://lookingformarketing.com/tools?utm_source=r_socialmedia&utm_medium=ai)

I can also relate to this problem and need to know more about the solution you’re offering.

Can you expand on how the user flow will look like?

No, there’s not a way to do that. You aren’t going to make a tool that’s all things to all people and be able to scale it. Especially at a price point that works for them all.

There’s a reason there are numerous options that run the entire range. It’s like saying, “Can there be a single car that meets the needs of everyone? Ferrari performance and prestige, Prius gas mileage, Civic repair record, Jeep off-roading ability, Porsche track performance, and all with Kia pricing?”

Going about it this way is how tools fail. They start out attempting to do all things well, and in the end they do none of them well, because they can’t. They end up doing them all various amounts of acceptable to horrid. Then, they either shut down or they ignore one area and focus on another. This means they lose those that once had more of a need for one piece they’re no longer focusing on. They’ve just spent valuable time and resources building out something and acquiring users and then turned their back on them, losing them. We see it all the time with so many of these tools.

With 25+ years of software development experience I have 1 thing to offer you to help you ‘prove’ your idea is worth exploring… a.k.a. there’s a demand for it.

Build out a feature/pricing matrix based on the available services. Use that to build out a decision tool and offer it to people who are searching for ‘the perfect tool’ to fit their needs.

Sign up for as many affiliate links as you can with all the providers and when people complete your questionnaire you offer them your suggested affiliate links.

If you can get some traction with that part of your idea… Then you MIGHT be on to something worth exploring further.

You’d also have a good data set to know which features people are looking for most and start with those.

I would NOT suggest just starting to build something. You’ll spend a lot of time and money building something without knowing if there is a market for it.

I’ve done this far too many times, and failed, to know you need to do a lot more than just build it and they will come.

Hmm, I love such a tool called Agorapulse for my social media management but there are a few things missing:

    * Being able to share from other RSS feeds on a continuous basis.
    * Integrating with email.
    * Having alternative social media sites ability to schedule out.
    * Medium integration.

to name a few! Good luck and if you do I’d love to know about it 🙂

It’s hard enough to build a product and stay on top of social network APIs, emerging content formats, audience needs, even just building out the preferences for one audience, like medium-sized businesses that Hootsuite does, or tiny teams like Buffer does, is hard to do. Let alone creating and maintaining a tool that can serve everyone, flex to all needs.

based on your description, it sounds like the barrier is more price and need to have more than one tool, so serving that type of customer might also be financially unattractive as well.
