    Brand new to PPC…any advice?

Posted by seohelper on August 10, 2021 at 10:33 pm

I’m completely switching careers (relatively early on in my professional life, thankfully) and starting a PPC position in a few weeks. I’ve been trying to research and learn as much as I can before my first day, including browsing this sub. I have extensive writing and editing experience, but not much actual marketing experience. Any advice is welcome and appreciated 🙂

Know your marketing math – e.g. how much you can afford to spend to acquire a customer or lead.

Take detailed notes of your experiment hypotheses and results to make sure you record your learnings.

Don’t spread yourself too thin by testing too many things at once.

Don’t overreact to small data samples – e.g. 1 day of data.

Be critical about what “link in the chain” is broken if your CPA or ROAS performance is not where you want it to be – for example, is your ad CTR great, but landing page conversion rate poor? If so, fix your landing page conversion rate. Conversely, is your CTR low but landing page conversion rate solid? If so, improve your ad copy.

Those are a few thoughts – in no particular order. Good luck! You can do this 🙂

Google Ads has a free exam you can take. That is a good place to start.
