Beware Of MarketMuse … Don’t Give Them Your Credit Card Info
Posted by seohelper on February 25, 2021 at 9:13 pmI did a trial of MarketMuse about 6 months ago. I couldn’t find the value in their service so I canceled about a week later. They appropriately canceled my account and issued me a refund. I saved all of the communications because you just never know with a company like this. Now, 6 month later, they charge my card for $5,100 out of the blue. Since I have been unable to get in touch with anyone there, I disputed the charge with Chase and filed a fraud report. What a total PITA …

GuestFebruary 25, 2021 at 9:42 pmReach out to them directly. Jeff’s the face of the app on appsumo. So you can always leave a bad review to get their attention. 🙂
PS it sucks that happened, but it must be a clerical error. You wouldn’t believe e shit I’ve seen. 🙂

GuestFebruary 26, 2021 at 2:55 amYea that’s odd. We used them earlier last year and cancelled after the free trial. No erroneous charges as far as I can tell.

GuestFebruary 26, 2021 at 3:37 amDoesn’t help now but maybe in the future, if you ever get a gift visa when it’s empty you can use it for subscriptions that require card details. Doesn’t matter what they charge to it afterwards because there’s nothing to take!

GuestFebruary 26, 2021 at 3:42 amYeah this sounds like an error and doesn’t fit with my experience with MM. I’ve started and stopped with them a few times and never had an issue. Hopefully you get it resolved.

GuestFebruary 26, 2021 at 7:49 amMarket muse has a beautiful interface and does cool stuff, but it’s so over the top expensive. I met with their sales, did the demo and due to their site limitations, had to make a hard pass on cost.
I ended up signing with Bernard, over at Clearscope. He’s super cool and down to earth. There are no site limitations at all. Our clients have seen almost 100% growth in organic traffic.

GuestFebruary 26, 2021 at 8:18 amThe same thing happened to my previous client’s agency. I don’t think it’s just a simple “error” or “mistake” as others have stated either.

GuestFebruary 26, 2021 at 9:08 amI was just thinking of subscribing to marketmuse. I think I should change my mind if they treat customers this way. Sorry to hear that buddy. Does anyone know of a great alternative to MarketMuse?

GuestFebruary 26, 2021 at 3:00 pmThis might have nothing to do with the company itself, change all your passwords and card info. I’ve been hearing a few similar stories like this. Robinhood being one. Sounds like a small scale data breach???

GuestFebruary 26, 2021 at 4:08 pmUPDATE … still no return phone call or response to my email from MM. Also, this thread was downvoted hard in a coordinated attack last night. Went from 97% upvote to 56% in a matter of minutes. Someone doesn’t want you to see this.

GuestFebruary 26, 2021 at 6:13 pmHi Everyone — my co-founder, Jeff Coyle, posted this more than 3 hours ago immediately when he saw this post but it is caught in moderation:
——-
This is **Jeff Coyle**, the Co-founder, and CSO for MarketMuse.
Our Finance team replied to your comment on Facebook in less than one hour and I’ve personally investigated this issue and sent an additional note to finance which included your Drift interactions, phone, dates, and notes.
We have human-supported Drift support that is available during US business hours and a 24-hour turnaround on all support requests. We also have a support mailbox and my email (and cell phone) is easily findable — I’m always happy to jump in and help customers as many can attest to.
It is against our terms of service to publicly comment on any account start dates, terms, conditions, contract details, email opt-out dates, or any other specifics of an agreement and we are strict with that element of our ethics as a business.
Mistakes happen. Any mistakes on our end will be fixed immediately — hopefully, we can work together to resolve this issue.
