  • Best practices when changing url names for pages?

My wife and I have started a food blog since the pandemic left us with months together at home. We’re new to all of this, and our first version was static html. Now we have adopted Jekyll as a cms and want to put up v2 of the site. Our concern is about the implications where the url names of pages have been changed. There are virtually no backlinks to worry about losing, but we are unclear about the implications of perceived content duplication. Will we be penalized by google, and what does that involve? Should we keep the old names or do a redirect? I’ve learned so much here, thanks for any advice.

    Use the redirection plugin

And redirect the old URL to new one

(Yoast Premium or Rank Math (free) already have that feature which automatically redirects old URL to new if changed)
