Audience Size – Facebook Ads
Posted by on February 23, 2021 at 2:20 amHi there, for the first time I have a monthly budget to use for my companies Facebook page and publishing ad’s about our service. We are a nonprofit company that nonprofit back office management support as a service
I was curious, what is the ideal audience size? Is 7 million too high? We are a national but to start out I selected the state of California to target. 30% of our clients live in California. Is this logical?
Does anyone have any helpful resources for Facebook audiences? I would truly appreciate it.

Is your company online? Do people have to physically come into your store? What is your product/service? What age range takes interest in it?
Your ads should be whatever your target audience is.
If you are online, I would do USA. But you would definitely want to add interests to narrow the reach. If it is physical then do California. Age range should be whoever uses that product/service the most, give or take a few years.
On instagram, you can choose interests, and this is where you type in what you are offering. For my business it is jewelry, so I added jewelry.
With instagram, it automatically selects an average range of people and gives suggestions if it is too broad or too narrow of a range.
Over 100 million would be too broad, and I wouldnt go less than probably 500,000.
Some examples with Instagram reach estimates:
USA, photography, ages 18 to 50. This would be about 93 million people possible to be reached.
California, hairstyling, ages 18 to 35. This would be about about 4 million.
If you selected California, any interest, ages 13 to 65, this would reach about 6 million people.
