Are PPC campaigns worthwhile for promoting a productivity SaaS?

Posted by sfoooooooooooooooooo on October 23, 2025 at 2:01 pm

I’m curious if anyone has seen success using pay-per-click (Google Ads, etc.) to promote simple productivity apps aimed at freelancers and solo founders. Does it provide a good ROI, or are there better channels? Looking for general insights, not selling anything.

SaaS tends to have higher cpcs. You can use keyword planner and see the ballpark of what you’d be paying on google ads. App campaigns cost per install will depend on what kind of app it is but you’ll likely be between 1-5 bucks per install on average. For a trucking app on Facebook and google I was able to get both down to around $2.50 cpi.

ROI will depend on how well you monetize your app. If you know LTV per user than you can do the math to figure out what makes sense cost wise

Google has a dedicated type of ad for app installations you can use but it doesn’t have much control (none really, beyond budget). App install campaigns (ACi). Worth a look and try but anything SaaS these days is cut throat
