Are HARO backlinks any good?
Posted by seohelper on September 10, 2020 at 12:24 amAre HARO links good? Because someone said to me that “they’re DEAD”, and your site ends up being mentioned on event sites, etc, so that badly affects SEO.

Your could get featured on literally any type of website.
Not sure why you think it would be bad if you got featured on an event type website. Can you explain your thinking further.

GuestSeptember 10, 2020 at 12:54 amYour question doesn’t really make any sense, Haro is a platform to connect people rather than a type of link.
I’ve found it mostly garbage for UK as its too much work sorting through all the idiotic freebie hunters and vague requests expecting you to put in an hours worth of work for nothing in return. Its too USA targeted which just makes it even worse and puts it in the ‘not worth the hassle’ pile.
I still get the twice daily emails but very rarely open them open them any more.
Its free to sign up and try it so why not have a go?

GuestSeptember 10, 2020 at 3:07 amI’ve been using HARO as my primary backlink strategy, meaning I use Haro almost exclusively. I’m able to secure on average three links/week from HARO. There can be a delay from pitch to backlink, but it’s worked out well. I am fortunate that topics in my niche come up frequently and I’m in EAT territory. My PA has gone from 0 to 22 since July when I started, and I’ve generated roughly 20-30 backlinks this way, most of which are DA 50-80.

It’s a backlink strategy for some who are on a budget. Write content, send it, and hope they use it and quote you.
Thing is, you will almost never be able to choose your anchor, there will likely be a ton of other links to other websites, and the content of their page might not be relevant to your site.
Is it the best backlink strategy? Fck no

GuestSeptember 10, 2020 at 12:45 pmH a r o can be a great service, but there’s also a lot of people trying to game it on the other side of things. Always pay attention to which media outlet is posting the requests, and realize that there’s two things to watch out for IMO:
Really big name websites often use quotes and don’t link back to the author and/or source for attribution. They hoard page rank like they think the world is about to end.
Relatively obscure sites will link to you, but it’s usually from within a roundup type post such that the page is going to have 40 plus outbound links and it’s all going to be to competing domains. I still think these links are better than nothing, but certainly not the juicy type of relevant links you want for high competition niches.
All in all, I think keeping h a r o on your map is prudent. Just don’t regard it as anything resembling a rank quick type of scheme. It still requires work, and is not always going to be what you expect.
