I have seen a few brands selling the same product and posting cigarette ads with no problem at all. I’ll link to examples in the comments. Thanks for the advice!

Facebook doesn’t allow ads (not organic content) that promotes smoking or smoking utensils (papers, filters, bongs, etc.)

I’m kind of new to selling all of this CBD stuff online, and the rules are….they’re new, and they’re confusing. To the best of my knowledge it seems like Brands are allowed to advertise pretty freely, so if you Google Half Day CBD and visit their site, you’ll probably get hit with ads wherever you go. The same can be said for pretty much any brand.

Now me, I can’t list the name of my CBD store or my URL, but if I try to advertise the same brand, in the same way (Google Ads, remarketing, etc.) my ads are going to be denied. It feels like Google is working with brands, but not small business guys.

This is the best info I’ve found about Facebook ads:

“*Advertisers are allowed to run ads for topical hemp across Facebook. Advertisers can run ads that direct to landing pages that feature ingestible hemp and topical CBD. But the ads cannot specifically feature those products*. ”

I think that’s basically saying if your website features products that are (a) Topical CBD, and (b) advertised as ingestible hemp only, you can run ads for Topical CBD on Facebook. I have hemp flower, Delta 8, and tons of CBD edibles and vapes on my site, and my theory is the only way I can participate in FB ads is by removing the text “CBD” from every prohibited product, navigation, and landing page, and hope that those changes would allow FB ads. Personally I’m going that route because my site is optimized for many CBD related keywords, and…IMO right now you just have to go at this old school SEO style. The rules are just too strict. You can’t even mention CBD in your navigation, it will get your ads disproved.

Not giving legal advice. I would be very wary. I cant give specific advice on a public forum.
