Anytime else have Display Keyword Campaigns that just stop serving after a day?

Display keywords for content targeting only spend for 1.5 days and then just… stop. I've tried raising bids, creating new responsive display ads, manual bidding, max conversions, etc. And nothing.

Only thing that works is duplicating the campaign or ad group, and the new will serve for 1.5 days like clockwork before stopping.

Support says it's a low bidding or auction or limited targeting issue, but I can double the budget on a duplicate and it'll spend it all without issue, and Display IS is <10%.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Yeah I’ve hit that before, usually feels like it “learns” itself into a corner.

In a few tests it wasn’t actually bids, it was inventory drying up based on how tight the keyword + audience signals got after initial learning. Duping resets that, which is why it spikes again.

Might be worth loosening targeting slightly or layering in a broader audience just to keep it alive longer, then compare impression volume over a few days instead of day 1 vs drop off.

I’d pull the placement report before changing bids again. When a duplicate spends and the original dies, that usually means Google found a small pocket of eligible inventory fast, then performance/quality filters narrowed it down until there wasn’t much left to buy.

So I’d check whether the first 24–48h placements are mostly junk apps / low-quality sites, whether content exclusions or brand-suitability settings are tighter than you think, and whether keyword-only targeting is just too brittle for the inventory you want. Duplicating can reset the exploration phase, but it usually doesn’t fix the reason the campaign keeps collapsing.
