Anyone recently created a new Google Business Profile? Is address verification still super strict?
Posted by on November 18, 2025 at 7:00 pmI'm setting up a new service based business and I'm seeing mixed info online. Some people say Google is still extremely strict with verifying addresses, others say it's gotten a bit more relaxed over the last year.
What your current experience like?
Were they still rejecting anything that isn't a storefront? No virtual addresses? Video verification still require or are the back to postcards?Thank you 🙂

I set up a few GBPs recently, and Google is still pretty strict especially with service-based businesses. No virtual offices, no co-working spaces, and definitely no PO boxes. Most of mine went through **video verification**, not postcards. As long as the business setup looks legitimate and matches your service area, it’s usually fine.
What type of address are you planning to use home-based or commercial?

Great topic. As my agency has set up a lot of profiles I don’t see any pattern. For local business A, brick and mortar there’s no verification. A week later we set up one for local brick and mortar business B and they ask for verification.

I created one for a new business of ours. Required a video, brick and mortar location. Video verification only took 24 hours after I filmed and uploaded.

Yes. I setup one up about a month ago and had to go out to the client to make a video for verification

I’ve tried a couple of times with home based and with street address for POB to no avail.
That said, a client of mine is WFH and has a state license for his financial services biz and GBP was no problem.
Strict = Yes
Consistent = No -
Yeah it is, but that’s why they also changed to video verification. As long as you can verify it accurately, you’re fine.
