  • Anyone have any LLM SEO checklist that is reliable?

Posted by dare-to-live on November 26, 2025 at 6:07 am

Has anyone developed a reliable approach for improving visibility in LLM-generated answers (e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity)?

I know “LLM SEO” isn’t a formally defined field yet, but we’re clearly seeing different visibility patterns compared to traditional Google rankings.

Has anyone created internal checklists or frameworks for optimizing content for LLM retrieval? I’m happy to share what I’ve observed so far as well, would love to compare experiences and build a community checklist.

    Yes:
Rank top 3 on Google – check,
Rank top 3 on Bing – check.

Yes I do. LLMs get their results from search engines so….

    1. Do good SEO nothing else is needed

    2. See 1

imo what’s worked for us is pretty basic… real data, clear structure, and getting mentioned in a few legit places. tbh LLMs grab that stuff way more than keyword-heavy pages. Not perfect, but it’s the only thing that’s been consistent for us so far.

Yeah. I got them to rank my local market and ever response was a national brand. Yuck.

FAQ, answer blocks, natural language questions, lead with answers first, insert related questions, cite credible sources for authority, key facts into bullet points or tables, give evidence and context, optimize for conversational queries, not keywords. Identify the questions your audience is asking. Answer the question in the first few sentences or paragraphs on the page you’re building.

Ours was the same as our standard checklist. Just with a few metrics, the weights changed. We update our weighting list quite regularly, and we have now removed our LLM checklist since it is the same. SEO is still the same as it was before: build a good site, create good content, answer related topics, and you will rank.

I’ve worked in some pretty mad industries, I’ve seen this work fairly well:

    1 Header keyword
    X3 LLMs in intro copy

Appreciate there is absolutely no basis for this but that’s what I use and seems to work, the density feels about right
