Anybody have any tips on growing a following on TikTok?
Posted by on January 17, 2026 at 8:41 pmI have a goal and that is to reach 10k on TikTok. I have two TikTok accounts with two different niches, one for gym/bodybuilding content and one with car content. The gym one I’ve had for years and have 106 followers on. I’ve only posted regularly recently though. The car one i made a month ago and been posting super regularly on, twice per day usually. I have 110 followers on that so far, that’s the main one I’m focusing on.
Quite honestly I’m unsure whether my boring cars (a ford ranger and a 97 mustang gt) are interesting enough so if I post and it doesn’t perform well I focus on ragebaity topics to get views. It does work. I have about 30 vids. I have some with 10k views, some are promoted some aren’t. I try to promote them every so often. I average anywhere from 100-10,000 views per video. Usually around the 3000 view mark my average video gets with tags like fyp, carsoftiktok, etc.
Any tips for this?

Just be consistent, post 2-3 times a day. I just hit 10k in 4 months.

One thing I don’t see said enough is you get what you put in. In addition to posting consistently, you also have to engage with others and that means more than just replying to the people who comment on your stuff. You should engage with other people’s content in your same or similar niche. Social media truly is about community; I think some people forget that. I’ve been getting a lot more engagement on Instagram lately because i make an effort to comment, like and repost people’s stuff. I try to leave genuine comments, not just stuff like “cool.” I haven’t really been religiously doing that on TikTok and I think it shows.

Find popular accounts in your same niche. Check their comments for active, engaging people. Follow, watch their stuff all the way through before liking and save. Comment if you can. You are looking for follow for follow. More people will follow as your followers grow. Small accounts follow more than those with lots.
Follows are bait. Once you have a couple thousand, compare your follows vs followers and unfollow any accounts that aren’t following you. That gets your bait back. Keep grinding like this and you will eventually reach parity.
You can do this without posting any content. I went from 389 followers to almost 3000 in a few months without posting any new content. I’ve just been participating in other people’s lives and scooping those watching the lives.
You can hit 10k even faster with good content. But the more followers you have, the more valuable your content looks.

Post daily on TikTok and post on TikTok story hopefully you will get lots of followers! 😊 👍

Honestly stop promoting videos. That usually hurts long-term growth. The thing is your cars are fine. Focus super hard on the first 1 second of every video. What is the clearest promise you are making? Ragebait views don’t stick.
