Any Tests / Experiments about Ranking of AI Content in 2026?

To continue the discussion u/ DanyrWithCheese started here from a couple of days back on the ranking of AI content —
There broadly seems to be two categories of opinions:
- AI content on your website will completely wreck you
- People who take the "Google Search's guidance about AI-generated content" at face value — ie. "Rewarding high-quality content, however it is produced"
I think reality is somewhere in between 1-2 (like most things SEO) but I'm not sure does it tend towards 1 or 2.
Has anyone here ran any tests around the ranking of AI content?
I'm looking for experiments along the lines of AI content vs Human content websites, keeping all else same.

To rank with Ai you must do regular SEO. Nothing more , nothing extra. The more backlinks you have the more you’ll get visibility.

Nobody is going to demonsrate content to you, just like nobody shares designes becaues its open to subjective abuse dressed as objective views.

All my sites are AI and rank, do quite well in AI too. I have a fairly complex process so it’s not just ‘write me 1000 words about X’. This is before any back links too.
