Any advice on helping me grow in my field!
Posted by on August 22, 2024 at 12:35 pmHi peeps! I'm an entry level SEO Specialist and I'm feeling kinda lost with the work I do atm. I'm working for a kitchenware company in Europe , and they do not have an in-house marketing team or any marketing seniors I could look upto and learn from. Most of the time it's me that do all the planning and comes up with a strategy and executive it.
After a couple of months of self learning and experimentation I was able to come up with a plan and rank their website for certain keywords within the top 10 in SERPs(most of them were low competition high volume queries)
After a couple of months our social media guy was laid off, and I was given the responsibility to take over the social media and also some PPC work. I thought this was a good learning opportunity for me and went with the flow.
Now actually it's taking a toll on my mind, with no room for growth or guidance I feel kinda lost. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

1. Read the Google SEO Starter guide. 99% of SEO will not read it – they know that they know enough even thought this 10 page document would destroy 60% of their hardcore beliefs. They don’t want to challenge it, especially from a “starter guide”
2. Read up on critical thinking skills. Why? So you can learn to deciper information vs misinformation. Most people assume they can. Its actually not easy. This sub reddit is 80% misinformation – for example, people telling others that UX is critical to SEO. Its insignificant. They believe as UX designers that everyone loves their design. That is a necessary part of evolution and ego defence and self worth but its subjective and has nothing to do with SEO. Its also incredibly complex.
3. Go to YouTube and watch all of the videos by Matt Cutts under the Google Search channel. Watch all of the Google Search channel videos.
Google publishes everything you need to know about SEO. Why do people say Google is a mystery and Google hides how it works? Because there’s money in it. Its useful for them to keep clients dumb and sweet. Its useful to spread misinformation like google valides content if your a content writers and so on.
The number on lesson is this: Google ranks content based on 3rd party validation and that is the sum of how SEO works.
You do not rank because of tricks like schema, tables, ToC, video.

Prioritize self-learning through online resources. Set clear goals. Network with other SEO professionals. Consider seeking a mentor or moving to a company with a larger marketing team for more growth opportunities….
