An epidemic of unengaged viewers

I do lots of different art like makeup and photography and if I tag someone in a post, their followers will blow it up with love and comments more than any of mine will. But the minute I post a portrait of myself, my followers will engage with it.

Yes this happens a lot and it’s not just you. People naturally connect more with faces and personal presence than abstract work or brand-style posts. Even with art or photography, your audience often wants to feel a connection to the person behind it. When you show up in your own content, it signals something more human and people respond. It doesn’t mean your work isn’t good enough, it just means the platform favors content that feels personal. Try blending both by narrating your process or showing up briefly in your creative work. It keeps the engagement without turning your page into a selfie feed.

Ciao, io ho 20 anni, eppure il mio profilo Instagram è… silenzioso. Non perché non abbia nulla da dire, ma perché non ho voglia di fingere qualcosa solo per avere attenzione.
Scrollo e vedo contenuti vuoti che raccolgono migliaia di like. Battute banali, pose forzate, vite costruite per piacere. Tutto gira intorno a quanto riesci a intrattenere, anche se non dici niente.
E io mi chiedo: ma davvero siamo arrivati a cercare solo ciò che ci fa staccare il cervello? Perché essere leggeri va bene. Essere superficiali… un po’ meno.
Non ho bisogno di postare ogni giorno per sentirmi valida. La mia identità non dipende da uno schermo, ma da quello che faccio e da chi sono anche quando il telefono è spento.

Actually I am managing a page where I sharing lots of travel and restaurant tips but hiding myself. I don’t want to share my face and voice with 50k people I don’t know. Therefore, I make my comments in personal ways and that makes people to feel me and my experiences
