Amateur Hour: trying to track revenue in Google Ads

Posted by seohelper on January 13, 2021 at 8:09 pm

I began work with a new client and inherited a rather messy Google Ads setup. With previous clients (campaigns that had been set up for me), I’ve been able to see revenue under Acquisition/Google Ads/Campaigns – that isn’t the case here.

I’m quite new to the PPC game so this issue has me stumped. Best I can do is create a goal in Analytics and assign a fixed monetary value to said goal, but this isn’t a great fix as it leads to some pretty inaccurate reporting.

**So, my question is this: is there a way to make Google Ads/ Analytics track (however roughly) the revenue made by a certain campaign?**

Which shopping cart / ecommerce platform are they using?

Does it allow revenue and events data to be sent to Google Analytics? If not, is there a workaround?

Has the client set that up? Are they even aware they need to do it?

Have you discussed this with the client yet?

Do you have the skills to help them implement tracking? Or at least tell them what needs to be done so their web developer can implement it.

Do you know how to use Google Tag Manager? Often useful in this situation.
