Am I crazy or is this massively underpaid?
A mate of mine just got offered one of those smaller “athlete” deals from a relatively big brand, and I’m trying to work out if it’s actually reasonable or as trash as I told him it was.
The deal is 4 videos a month for $100/month, plus some free supplements and commission on sales. Is that normal? Seems kinda trash tbh and a waste of time, but am I being unreasonable. I get that theres a little exposure of sorts that come with collabing with good brands, but $100 for that many pieces of content (across tiktok and insta, both over 30-60k followers).
I also put it through my rate calculator, even on the low end it came out at around $600–$800 per post for this kind of content. So in my head, they're effectively doing ~$2.5k–$3k worth of work a month for $100 + (hopes of) commission. I get that commission can scale if you’ve got a strong audience etc. but if you don’t, it basically turns into cheap promo work where all the upside sits with the brand.
Im still relatively new to content creating myself, and Im also a big 'time is money' person… so genuinely curious if this is just standard entry level stuff now or still a pretty average deal?
