Adding Category slugs in Already Ranking URLs: Yay or Nay?
Posted by on May 7, 2020 at 9:32 amI want to update one website and categorize some posts, however these are already ranking in top 10s. Thus, I am not sure if updating URL by adding a category slug is reasonable? What has been your experience? Shall I just leave URLs as they are and just categorize inside the website for better UX?

you better leave them…never touch the slugs unless it’s extremely necessary
Reason : “The bigger effect will be from changing a lot of URLs (all pages in those folders) – that always takes time to be reprocessed. I’d avoid changing URLs unless you have a really good reason to do so, and you’re sure that they’ll remain like that in the long run.” – Jhon Mueller
