Access to my old employers ad account, and I’m laughing

Posted by _mavricks on January 22, 2026 at 7:46 am

Long story shore I have access to an old employers ad account on Google, and I'm completely laughing right now. They forgot to remove my access so I check in from time to time to see how they are doing.

I worked at an apparel company where my minimum ROAS was typically 200% on Pmax which I would spend $300k+ a month. I had a variety of search campaigns targeting our biggest competitors, keywords customers had with pain points (worked AMAZING), and some demand gen. Overall they were printing money.

Now – they are barely hitting $50k a month. A lot of shopping products they aren't being optimized and will let a piece of clothing spend $1,000+ and it generates 85% ROAS.

It looks like NO one is watching this account at all and just letting it spend money.

I left the company because it got to the point where the CEO refused to take advice from anyone, and basically is running the company into the ground himself.

I used to work at an agency who were running ads. The owner was the one “managing” the account and running the campaigns.

His brother was head of design (it was a small, family run agency), he asked me to audit the account and give him any suggestions.

I found they had spent around £5,000 in the last 3 months advertising in places they don’t serve – Iraq, Saudi, South Africa etc.

I don’t think they cared. But £5k thrown away in 3 months – give it me! They were only paying me peanuts, could’ve paid me some of that. And they had business loans and all sorts.

If they tightened their targeting, added a ton of negatives and stayed on top of that account they could’ve got more conversions.

I own a local brick mortar music production school and have been afraid of google ads, we do all meta.

And ill let you keep access to the account so you can laugh at me fucking it up anyways LOL.

the best way to spy is create a looker report. If you login, there is an audit trail and they will ask why was the last login way after you left.

you’re out here getting free market research on why you made the right decision to leave lol. honestly though you should probably tell them or something because having access is kind of a liability for you
