    About Facebook lookalike audiences

Posted by seohelper on June 5, 2021 at 2:58 pm

    Hello,

I use one campaign at a time with a single adset and one audience at a time. I recently created a lookalike 1% audience from the list of generated leads. Next, I could only choose country as a target location. However, I need to target specific zipcodes for my campaigns, so I added all the zipcodes manually to this audience in the adset stage.

My question is, was it the right way to target the locations? Maybe the lookalike audience from the source one (which was targeted by zipcode too) was enough?

You did just fine. Lookalike audiences are alway based on countries, meaning 1 to 10% of a country’s users that are most similar to those of the original audience. That doesn’t mean that all users from the lookalike are based in the same location, it’s more about interests and behavior.

You can then, just as you did, limit the location targeting in the ad sets. Be careful not to be too restrictive with a 1% lookalike as the audience might become too small to be effective.
