I host the site on Netlify, I’ve always believed Netlify had permanent uptime, but at 1am last night Google smartphone crawled it and found a “crawl anomaly” which is described as 5xx and 4xx error and the page was removed from Google. It was ranked 3rd on the main keywords I optimised it for.

I’ve requested a reindex, but will this significantly hurt my SEO efforts? And is Netlify a bad hosting service?

I would check Netlify’s uptime commitment. None will promise 100% but could promise 99.9%

In terms of your performance, this is a pain but likely not a killing blow. Do what you can to make it clear the page is present and watch for similar errors while investigating alternative services migrating hosting can also cause issues if done improperly so I wouldn’t jump straight to that
