Is there no way to add formatting to FB posts? I read about the format with markdown option (like using asterisks for italics, double asterisks for bold, etc) but it doesn’t seem to work. Otherwise it’s hard to write longer posts on FB without any way to neatly organize them.

Second we just started our IG account for our business and we’re struggling somewhat to gain followers. It’s a very new account – only posting for a few days and only 9 posts. The posts are all nicely designed graphics. We’re using 30 related hashtags. So far we’ve gotten around 50 followers. My strategy has been engaging a lot with people who have recently posted to our city’s location (assuming that these are active accounts who live in our area)….I follow some and like and comment a lot. We have planned our account to have a mix of nice graphics and educational content….we want to give people a reason to follow.

But it seems like the algorithm isn’t really recognizing the quality of the posts which seems to be because we dont have enough followers to get that engagement momentum. I don’t know how to break out of this cycle of low followers makes it hard to get more followers even though we have quality content. We will not be buying followers. We will probably do some promoted posts for the purpose of gaining followers soon. But I wanted to ask if there are any organic strategies we should be using…. Anything we’ve overlooked

For fb, if I’m understanding correctly you want to leave a line for a spacer? You should be able to just make sure there aren’t any extra spaces after punctuation for the previous line.

And for ig, no one just blows up without SUUUUPER highly engaging posts (Kendall Jenner-type people). Just stick with it and consistently post high quality content. Put a couple dollars behind each post if you want some additional reach.

IG and FB wont allow money behind posts with words/numbers. Also what type of business are you, posting educational/informational content? Instagram might not be the place for you unless it’s shown in a very engaging way. Also 50 followers with 9 posts is right on target. Break out of the cycle? You said you just started. You’re not going to gain 500 people in that limit timeframe, unless your brand already has a loyal following.

As far as formatting, I’ve had the best luck and copy and paste.

For followers, what you are doing is great, this is one of the ways I grew my account. Definitely time consuming. My other suggestion is running paid advertisements to get more profile visit, and in turn followers. You could also do a giveaway or two, but keep in mind those followers are usually only in it for the giveaway. I’ve had a few stick around afterwards though.

The algorithm is ridiculous for instagram. It changes every month it feels like. But last I checked, in order for the algorithm to think your post is quality enough to show to people, your post needs SAVES. Likes, comments and shares don’t matter as much anymore. I’ve given up with the algorithm because it’s frankly trash.
