What’s up guys. I’ve been a TikTok creator (well every platform because I despise TikTok) for over 4 years now and wow has 2026 been off to a rough start. I took a step back from TikTok at the end of 2025 to clear my head and refocus for the new year. This was literally only about a week and a half break without creating or posting and at this time, views were the usual 12-20K per post. Not too bad, solid engagement, within my niche videos. Also keep in mind I am in the US.

Fast forward January 2nd, I post a video that would normally be great engagement bait…literally 26 views in an hour. I privated it thinking I’ll re-edit and use a different sound, that should work, the algorithm probably is bugging. Same result. I’ve kept posting throughout January and February and not a single video has cracked 4,000 views. One has 3,900 and has been up for over a month. I refuse to pay to play on this platform despite the “give your video the push it needs!!!” every time I post but I’m genuinely starting to believe that’s the only way I can even get a fraction of my engagement back.

Luckily, I’ve converted a solid amount of my following to other platforms and have even heard from them that they never see my TikTok’s come up anymore so I’m more confused than anything. I post family friendly challenges and skit videos, so my niche is very much still out there. Anyone else with a good sized following and active audience find that it’s completely gone pretty much overnight?

Stop thinking how do you get your old engagement back but start thinking how do you deserve more engagement in 2026 than you did in 2024. Platforms don’t reward nostalgia, they reward momentum.
