🚨 Sudden drop in conversions in the last 2 weeks — no changes made. Anyone else experiencing this?

    Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some insight because I’m honestly a bit stuck.

Over the past ~2 weeks, my Google Ads conversions dropped sharply across a Search campaign.
What’s confusing is that I did not change:

    • budgets
    • bidding strategy
    • keywords
    • ads
    • landing pages

Before the drop, performance was relatively stable.

    Setup details:

    • Campaign type: Search
    • Bidding: Maximize conversions
    • Goal: Lead form submissions
    • Budget: unchanged
    • Tracking: conversions still firing, no obvious tracking errors

    Things I’ve already checked:

    • No disapprovals or policy warnings
    • Conversion tracking still works
    • No sudden spike in CPCs
    • No obvious search term quality collapse

    So my questions:

    1. Has anyone else seen a similar drop in the last 1–2 weeks?
    2. Could this be related to recent Google Ads algorithm / learning changes, auctions, or traffic quality shifts?
    3. Are there any less obvious factors I should be checking (e.g. hidden budget throttling, audience signal changes, demand seasonality, lead form behavior)?

Any insights or recent experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance 🙏

search terms report first. google might be matching u to broader queries that look fine but convert worse. also check auction insights, a new competitor could’ve entered without u noticing.

landing page speed is sneaky too. site issues can tank conversion rate without breaking tracking.

one thing about maximize conversions, it can recalibrate toward the wrong audience if u had a period of lower quality leads. switching to target cpa temporarily sometimes resets this.

what vertical are u in? some b2b niches just slow down certain times of year.

    What did you change?

Maybe your automated bidding strategy just went into a death spiral

Yes, this is happening more lately — Google sometimes quietly shifts Max Conversions toward cheaper, lower-intent traffic, which hurts leads even if nothing changed. Also, search behavior and AI results can shift traffic quality without showing clear warning signs.
