As someone who manages it for work, I had to get off it personally. So much of SM is performative. “I did this thing here, so please like it.” There’s also certain aesthetics that cater to the higher likelihood of those likes too. The whole system has become grossly algorithmic.

There’s nothing wrong wanting to share moments of your life with your friends and family, especially if they make you happy. It’s the chronic effort though that wanes. Are you doing this thing because intrinsically its something you want to share or are you now doing this thing TO share it online.
