Why do social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat feel so draining to use? Is there something wrong with the platforms themselves or is the problem inherent to any form of social media?

Most publishers don’t understand how to create quality social content. They push ads, announcements, they still do countdowns and teasers… The problem isn’t the platform, the algorithm, the day/time you publish etc. It’s that people aren’t creating content to drive social interactions.

It’s artificial. Most people aren’t authentic so the content is just draining. At least on reddit you can have real conversation.

Diversity of thought. I’m left-wing politically, for example — radically so on social issues — but here on Reddit I’m considered a right-wing Nazi because I’m not an establishment Democrat. It’s insane. If you don’t toe the party line on social media — especially here on Reddit and on Twitter (the latter of which is just an establishment shill factory at this point) — you basically can’t participate. Your voice gets downvoted or drowned past the point of anyone seeing it. Social media seriously discourages critical, innovative thinking.

I think that social media is such an amazing way to hear the opinions and ideas, unfiltered, of people you respect. I also think it’s full of negativity, conscientious aggression, and bullcrap.

It’s all about balance, baby. Consume content that makes you think and question and react, but also content that fills you with joy, inspiration, and *wonder*.

The “social” is missing from social media.

It’s quite enjoyful to interact with people and brands as people. But even individual people treat themselves as brands.

If i ever have money to spare lets do a social media site that bans any kind of ads or political stuff . Also i want that site to run on donations . It all repeats : good site. Many new users.ads flocking in. “Hidden influence and influencers” come in . Tos is updatet to make ads better . The people cant see anything from frindes between the ads. People leave . The cospiricy idiots and influencers stay. Conspiricy people see that they talk to other conspiricy people and cant chabge minds . Some conspiricy people leave. Influencers dont care . Bäm dead . Seen it so often . Reddit is only surviving this long by huge user numbers and people who try to fight . I give it 3 years 1 if there pops up a alternativ .
