  • What to do with the new domain along with the existing one?

Posted by seohelper on March 6, 2020 at 9:14 am

So I bought a domain in March 2018 that was myname(dot)Co

I purchased that because myname(dot)com wasn’t available. But I just checked again after 2 years, it was available so i bought it.

With the myname(dot)CO domain, I made a blog and wrote 30 articles. One or two are ranking for low vol keywords. Nothing major. I am wondering how to use the new domain efficiently because at the end of the day, I would prefer a (dot)com instead of a (dot)co.
But my homepage is the first result when you search my name.(if that mean something). Ahrefs show DR 18.

What would be the most efficient thing to do from SEO point of view.

    Should I

    1. Move everything to the new one and redirect all pages from old domain to new
    2. Use new one to display static portfolio and put a ‘BLOG ‘button in the menu that takes to older one
    3. Or something else that I couldn’t think

Looking forward to your opinion on this.

P.S- I am new to the SEO world, please be kind

I think the first one would be better ” Move everything to the new one and redirect all pages from old domain to new “. Though it will take time to index but will surely work.

Put everything on the .com and 301 redirect all of the URLs whether you think they are indexed or not. If your site is on WP or other popular CMS you can do this with a plugin very easily.

Once the new domain is live, put all new content there.
